No, you can register for membership without a firearms licence. You do need to become familiar with your State Firearms laws before you make and offer or bid on an Auction item. Some States require you to have a "permits to acquire" before you can purchase a firearm and have it shipped to your Nominated Firearms Dealer
Answer:
Any member wishing to place an offer to purchase or bidding on an Auction on the Site, should first contact a registered firearms dealer who lives close to them. Ask the Dealer for their consent to use their services as a transferring dealer for the purchase and inquire about the fees involved in the holding and transfer of your purchased firearm until it is licenced. Make sure that you are familiar with the licensing procedures in your state prior to purchasing. Complaints about a buyer being defrauded by a seller are rare at due to the steps we take to keep potentially malicious users off this site. In addition to our efforts to protect you from fraud, we recommend that buyers do the following:

1) Always check the seller’s feedback rating before placing a bid on an item. The Sellers Feedback is located below their details on the Item page. There is also a link to the seller’s feedback on the View Item Page. All Buyers are encouraged to enter a feedback rating after a purchase.

2) Pay by credit card if possible. Credit cards give you specific legal rights in the event there is any problem with the transaction.

3) Arrange to have the firearm taken to a Dealer of your choice that lives close to the seller, and have them verify the condition of the firearm before purchase.

4) We urge members to use an Escrow service to smooth the transaction. For a reasonable fee, they will hold your payment until you receive your purchase, and then they will forward the payment to the seller.

PayPal (at the time of writing) doesn't permit their service to be used for firearms purchases. If you choose to send money to a seller, be aware that you will not be covered by their warranty or charge-back guarantee and may violate their usage agreement.
